Bridgestone Tires

I went to a superstore to look at gear and other things for my ninjette and I fell upon tires. I was looking at the various brands, models and sizes. This probably has been a repeat thread, but some new tires have come up. I was looking at the Bridgestone BT-023's. I want the 110/70/17 for the front, which they have. But, would the 150/70/17's fit on the rear? Any experience with Bridgestones that would work as good as the BT-023's or at least similar? Or...are there other Tire brands that are similar to the BT-023?

I think for the Bt-016 people use a 150/60/17 but I am not sure how the difference between 60 and 70 effects it.

Going with a taller tire makes a noticeable difference. When I went from an 80 height tire to a 90 height tire, I noticed that my bike didn't pull quite as hard. Now that I need a new chain, I'm going +2 on the back sprocket while I'm at it to get back to the same final drive as stock. Maybe it's not a HUGE difference, but it's definitely noticeable.

Really the only things I want to change is the compound, longevity, wet and dry performance, etc. It's the height and thickness I don't want to mess with, just the width really. Any thoughts on the 150 BT-023's?

I have the bt-090r's and love them. my rear is a 140 though fits great.

I'm gonna have to defer you to someone who's used those specific tires, seeing as I have a pre-gen and run 130/90-16's

but just for reference,

stock size on the rear of your bike is 130/70-17
130 x .7 = 91 mm

150 x .7 = 105 mm
150 x .6 = 90 mm
140 x .7 = 98 mm
140 x .6 = 84 mm

Bridgestone also makes the BT-92 that looks to be in sizes that are recommended for rim sizes closer to the rim size of the 250R. There is a 140/70-16 and 140/60-17 size rear tire, and a 110/70-17 for the front

a little research shows that the BT-090, BT-003R, and the BT-45 all also come in the 140/17-17 size (BT-45 also comes in the stock size and I really like the BT-45 rear, but I've had some issues with the front scalloping)

I'd love the BT-92 but, I can't find them anywhere online. I can do the BT-023's for the front, but it's the rear as a 150 that I'm concerned with. Is it too large?

If I can get the BT-92's that's great, they seem to me to be a lower end version of the 023's.

The BT-023 is a good Sport Touring tire designed for heavier bikes. Has a dual compound (soft outsides for better grip and harder in the middle for longer wear life). So with the lightweight Ninja it should be a good blend of performance and longevity. However the BT-023 does not come in a 150/60/17 which would be a good fit for what you are looking for. The closest BT-023 comes to fitting on the Ninja is a 150/70/17 which will look like a balloon on the bike and pinched on the rim. Rec. rim width for it is a 4.50 in.

If you are looking at putting on a 150/60/17, take a look at Continental Conti Sport Attack, Michelin Pilot Power, as well as the Bridgestone Battlax BT-016. Others have used them before. The search and wiki is full of info on tires.

Yeah you all make a good point. I went to a couple dealers today and I think I found my next tires. I'm looking at the Pirelli Sport demons or the Diablo Rosso II's, both now finally come in our sizes and are exactly what I'm looking for.
