What is this thing?

Went to go for a ride today and my battery was dead. Pulled my battery out of my Ninja and found this thing.

Was wondering if anyone knows what it is?

Seems like a trickle charger (similar to Battery Tender).

Does it have any other plugs on it, or is the power leads the only wires coming out of it.

If no plugs or wires, I would say lojack.

It only has power leads, I was kind of thinking lojack myself but didn't know. Can't find any pictures online. I wonder how much power it drains from the battery?

Yup - if those are the only wires or openings coming from it at all, I'd agree that it's some type of tracker, whether Lojack or similar. Is there a serial number, manufacturer, or any identifying information on it at all?

It says FIN TM(superscript) on the back along with a serial number.

Ha, nope.

Now that I know what this thing is, I'm going to just leave it off.

did you buy the bike outright? if you got it from a used car dealer, or bike dealer and is financed through them it may be a tracker so they know where it's at if you don't pay for it.

I'd contact the manufacturer and ask if you can transfer it to your name. That way you have the theft locator service. Those boxes are pretty expensive if you buy them. There may be a monthly service if you activate it.

Oh, just so you know, it called them and told them you disconnected it.

I bought the bike outright so probably just was left there by the previous owner. Maybe I'll give the company a call and see what the fee is for it, but I'm not really to worried about someone stealing it. Insurance is so cheap on the 250 it doesn't really matter. I mean the deductible for a theft is only $100.

HAHA. It probably didn't do any alerts because it looks like there is a monthly fee to use it. If I read correctly, it was 7.50 a month.
