I think I just bought a Hyosung.

Got a real low price on a Hyosung GT250R. May be the end of the month before I can pick it up but the price is right and I can't wait to give it a full review. He is going to be out of country for a few weeks and when he gets back I told him I thought I would take it.

so long as it's a newer fuel injected version it should be okay, quality control wasn't so great on the older ones. I personally like the new fuel injected gt650r

Where do you know this person from? Do you know him personally? If this was from a Craigslist post I'd be a little leary of it being a scam. Those scammers always say they're out of the country.

Craigslist ads with prices too good to be true usually turn out to be scams, especially the ones with seller being "out of the country" or "service overseas".

If you don't have a personal contact phone number, speak with the seller or seen the bike in person.. it's likely that's a scam.

I know the craigslist scams and out of town will ship to you scams. I texted and emailed this guy. I have his cell and he told me directions to his place. If the bike is still there by the end of the month I think I will buy it. Cost less than ninja.

yeah i didnt even buy a hyosung and just dealing with the guy i wanted to buy it from was crazy. had a bike shop look over the bike and alot of stuff was rusting and or neeeded to be replaced with only 5k miles on the bike.

A HYOSUNG....Despite good reviews about this machine....I'm better of with the NINJA 250R...A great, great bike to begin with,....here in the Philippines..they have a great following for this ninjette...Think twice...dude!!!

In the UK, the Ninjette doesn't appear to have much of a following. I've never even seen another Ninjette out on the road. I'm always trying to spot one. For some reason people tend to ride 50CC bikes, 125CC bikes, then 600CC bikes and bigger. 250CC gets skipped! I'm showing the 250CC cylinders some love though! <3

Even at the local Kawasaki shop I've overheard the sales people encouraging people to get 600CC or more powerful bikes and then if they are not legally aloud to ride them, having a limiter installed.

Probably because they make more on the sale of the larger displacement bikes.

I have never actually seen a good review on the Hyosung... ever 250 battle I've seen in magazines or online always puts them on the bottom of the list. Its your dime... but I honestly believe you get what you pay for.

I was actually speaking to a Kawasaki dealer today and they told me that whenever they get Ninjettes in they sell almost straight away, but they're usually back before a year has gone by and being traded in for a Ninja ER-6F.

only heard bad about them. poor welding, poor metals, sloppy assembly, bad electrical, bad paint. the list of complaints goes on for awhile. if you want something cheap, buy something older. dont buy something built poorly. you can spend only a few hundred dollars on an older big-4 bike and have more quality and reliability than you would buying a newer cheap-o brand. the big-4 havent been in the biz this long by producing bad bikes.

Oh my god the wind :| the ninjette is my only mode of transport and for the first time ever i asked for a lift from a mate to work due to the heavy wind and a long journey hopfully it will calm down soon

I think the UK market for streetbikes is much more leaned towards larger displacement bikes. That's the reason why it is rare to see those ninjettes on the road.. . Going back to the topic to HYOSUNG or not to HYOSUNG...aahhH!! YOU don't need to think it over, dude...Go for what has been around for more that a decade now...PEACE OUT...

Maybe op just wants a cheap bike to tear around on? Where it won't matter if it gets FUBAR? Seeing as he already has a ninjette. I'd ride a GT250R if someone gave me the keys. I'd probably ride it more than my 500, she got sucker punched by the wall and has a black eye.

Ah yes! We had Hurricane BAWBAG!
Did a lot of damage, then we had high winds a few days ago and that did even more damage!
Didn't bother me though, my house is stone and slate, it ain't going no where!

As for spotting Ninjettes in the uk, I used to see a green one drive by the garage I visit, he came in one day and was obviously taunting me with it. He told me there was nothing better than his Ninja so I said "I'll have to get a Special Edition then"

BLOODY TYPICAL!
NOW THAT I HAVE ONE, HE'S NO WHERE TO BE SEEN, APPARENTLY HE'S ON A 600 NOW!

As for the Hyosung, I had one before it was crashed into, good bike, feels and sounds faster than a Ninja, better economy too.

Lots of Chinese scooters around here. Not been very successful and I am sure quality is worse than the Korean bikes.

I'm definitely not ruling the china bikes out. They are todays version of what korean cars were in the 80s, and japanese cars were in the 70s. Give them time. And not just a couple years. Decades. I think they'll be up there eventually. China is just coming into the global market for consumer products. They're just babies.

The Chinese pump out more volume than any other two-wheel vehicle manufacture.

I've put over 11k mi. on my Chinese scooter since 2008.

For a city commute vehicle, it's hard to beat. $35 to insure for the whole year, crauises nicely around 45 mph, gets well over 70 mpg.

Oil change takes 10 minutes, only 500 ml of oil.

Valve adjustment take 5 minutes while the bike is running.

Only mechanical issues I have had is flat tire and some blown fuses, other than that it's reliable, start everytime even with 4 yr. Chinese old battery.

Now the plastics are getting flimzy with age, I figure I'll just leave them off as the they break off.. it would ride just the same.

hyosung is korean, not chinese.

1500$ is not bad for a good condition running bike regardless. but unless your area is really that dry, you should be able to find something better for around the same price. look at older big-4 bikes. they are very reliable and have long histories. just make sure it wasn't stunted or raced.
