Crank Case Vent Filter

After converting to a pod filter has anyone came up with a good option for the crank case vent?

I am looking for something that will be good in all weather riding.. Thought about getting a longer hose to extend it higher up so the side faring panels cover up the filter.

My plan was to use a little K&N filter or similar brand.. But is if I just stick it on top of the engine should I be worried about water?

You can use those cheapy filters at the autoparts store.

You don't want to put a filter there. That goes to the exhaust ports. The valve cover gets blocked off.

LOL. That would explain why it was so loud when I installed it

Thats what I am looking for

I will just do something simple like that and just monitor it the first few times in the rain. This is actaully going on my Ninja 300, but no one has really done this mod yet.. I figurered you guys would have an answer as well.

The top of the crank case on the 300 is different than the 250R.. My vent line comes out horizontal vs the 250R is vertical. (I am not talking about the rubber tube, the actual output)

Can you take some photos of that on the 300?
The filter on this is really kinda useless. Air comes out of the crankcase most of the time. Only time air would go in is after you shut the engine off. As it cools down it would draw in a little.

Also bugs will go into that hole and build a nest. Don't worry about pods in the rain. The side covers and tail get most of the water. You can add a hugger to the rear wheel. That keeps water and dirt from being thrown forward.

the side covers on the 300 are only about 1/2 the size of 250R side covers so the gap is alot larger but I guess I just like to worry

I am adding the GSXR rear shock as well so I need to hack up my undertail.. The 300 comes with a TINY hugger, it doesnt do much but I guess its better than nothing until something better comes out in the aftermarket world.. I know a 250R one would fit but I know there are a couple brands in the works so I would rather just wait to see what happens
