IT looks like a throwback to the 1970s and provides performance that’s only a small step up from a bicycle – but this is probably the cheapest new Honda motorcycle you’ll find anywhere in the world.

The new CG110, revealed today in Nigeria (where it’s also built), is set to cost around 100,000 naira – that’s £383.63 at today’s exchange rate. To put that in perspective, it’s about £16 less than you’d spend on the smallest version of the new iPad Air, or a tenner less than a bottle of 2004 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild Pauillac costs on Amazon at the moment. For a motorbike. A real one that you can ride and everything. Unsurprisingly, Honda reckons it won’t struggle to shift 40,000 of them each year.

In fact it’s not just ‘a motorbike’ – it’s a Honda, and even if it’s made in Nigeria and uses technology that Fred Flintstone would probably think is a little passé (check out that drum brake) that means it’s not likely to be disposable rubbish. These things will probably run for years.

Will we get it in Europe? Of course not. But Honda, don’t you think there might be some mileage in a bike we could buy for a three-figure sum, too?
