Mysterious electrical issue

I have a radar detector that is direct-wired into the battery.

The radar detector is a Escort Passport 9500xi, which has a GPS chip. In the past few weeks, the GPS chip will go haywire and lose GPS lock once the engine speed exceeds 6000rpm.

The problem is not with the radar detector; I put it into my car and the GPS chip works just fine. Therefore, I'm suspecting something is going haywire in the electrical system on my bike. I've already replaced the battery to see if that was the issue, and that did not fix the issue.

Could the regulator be bad, or should I look into other potential issues?

Try wiring it from a fused circuit? Strange

the power on the battery is actually 14v at that rpm and is charging the battery. maybe the gps doesnt have a very good regulator in it and the added voltage is screwing up the timing and it cant do its thing

The weird thing is that it's been working fine for the last year and a half and now it's going haywire.
