Kawasaki KLR650

Hey Guys
Learning to ride on my ninja 250 has been a pleasure but im thinking of upgrading to a road/trail bike so I can take the wife camping off the main roads and have a bit of adventure.

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on the KLR650? Plenty on youtube, good and bad, but I would like to get the opinions of fellow ninjette owners. Cheers.

It is a very good machine, old and dependable design that has been sold for many years.

I like mine a lot. I've only had it for 2 years, but it's become one of my favorites. 10k in the time I've had it.

I've kept mine around for 7 years, it's been a great bike, I can get pretty much anywhere on this thing!

I appreciate the replies guys, seems they are heavy, reliable and solid all round bikes. Now I've just got to find one for a good price.....

I want a KLR or DR 650. Both are solid enduros with decent luggage capacity and good mileage. They are super simple to work on and run very reliably.

I have read many blogs of people ridding them the entire Americas. PAtagonia to AK and everywhere else.

The XR650 is equivalent.

all butt kicking thumpers with readily available parts and low tech repair.

my high compression 685 really woke up the bike. I rather enjoy it still, but would love another 20 HP
