Front fairing seems loose.

When I was riding home today I noticed my front fairing was shaking a bit up down. I went home tightened every bolt I could find and noticed this part under the bars looks broken. It appears to be a bracket of some kind but it doesn't look too important.

Don't worry it's 'just' the fairing stay

It certainly explains your fairing movement. Is the rest of it still there? If so it might be weldable.
I'll be back if I find a pic of the whole thing to give you some idea of the whole assembly
ps I was kidding about the "just" this is serious!

UPDATE
Here is a repair article from "that other site"

I see. How does this happen? I know my bike was dropped a few times before I bought it but I haven't had any bad crashes that would do something like this.

The bracket seems to fatigue from being too thin for the job, it carries the weight of the fairing, headlight and instrument cluster, which is a lot. The cross piece flexes and eventually snaps at the corner where yours has. It is not direct crash damage but the constant flexing in service. Thats why the guy in the article has made his replacement from thicker steel. if it is already fatigued a crash will finish it because it is weakened but not cause it.

The pregen has a few design weaknesses, that is one, the fuel cap lock seizing is another and weak locating "ears" on the rockers is a third. The upper fairing mount screws that nearly pierce the fuel tank, fourth.
The intake rubbers between the carbs and airbox are not exactly a "Best of Bauhaus" design either
