First Scratch on Bike : (

Blahhhh,

I am happy it wasn't worse and it only happen to my rim. I was coming around the corner turn to my neighborhood and I under estimated just a little and my front tire slipped off the pavement into the grass. I gained control back fairly easy. Anyways, I now have a pretty sweet scratch on both sides of the front rim. Anybody know of some good wal-mart touch up paint for the rim? I looked on colorrite's website and they have it but its too damn expensive.

... and what color is that??? is it a plain black or does it have metallic or pearl in it?

if it's a plain black, go to an autoparts store where they sell touch up paint in bottles and pick one that is a plain black. it will match fairly well. I've seen people use permanent magic markers to touch up black, but it doesn't last as long as a good touch up paint will.

White and black are the easiest colors to match still, I wouldn't bother even trying to match it. I would get a black touch-up paint pen and just paint it on. It goes on like nail polish and when it's dry I'm sure you'll have a hard time even seeing where it was.

If you're really anal you could always wetsand it smooth when the paint dries but again, IMHO not even worth that effort.

I've got a deep trench gouged into my front rim (road hazard) and a dent on the rear. Mine are painted blue and are themselves replacements for a severely dented front rim (pothole).

If it's any consolation, I dropped my bike on the right side within the first 3 miles of owning it. Two little cracks covered up by stickers that made the bike faster.

at least you didn't have a tool slip taking off the fairings like i did when I put my HID's in over the winter. dunno what happened, but now I have a nice 1" long gouge just above the kickstand in my metallic blue fairings

I think I might have to find a sticker to fix it with :P

make sure it's a green sticker. I've heard they really help make the blue bikes go faster.

I couldn't see it too, but I think I see it now... near the bottom, the exposed metal.

It doesn't look noticeable... and you can probably get "street cred" for it now. Proves you ride on the "wild side".

But, some quick black touch-up paint like others mentioned, from any auto parts store will cover that up no problem.

Nice handling on getting your bike back on the road. I've heard these ninjettes can go anywhere, but I haven't tried off-roading.

So here is an update to what I did with pics:

I found some Universal Black Dupli-Color 2 in 1 Scratch Fix from autozone. Paint match seemed pretty good! Below are some before and after pictures:

It would need the edges taken off and the gap filled in before painting over.
