Ooh nice. Is this your idea about what it could look like? I like the 2-part tank design. I'm a fan of the protruding windscreens that seem to be doing their rounds on various new bikes.

Only differences I see are a few color highlights (like the gold trim) and the elimination of the rear fender. The tank is already a two-piece and the windshield is adjustable on the 2012. They also have a single-seat cowl for the new 650. Saw it on one or two of the 650's at the Kawasaki show tent at Daytona Bike Week.
I also demo rode it. WOW, what a difference that seat makes in comfort from the old one piece. It's totally night and day difference in comfort. I couldn't stand the previous seat and was already getting sore on it before the end of the 30min demo ride last year. This year however it was extremely comfortable. I also think that it sounds somewhat like an I6 car motor when accelerating.

I have yet to see the 2012 650s but the tv ads seem to be pushing them pretty hard. I'd like to try one out at a dealership may be a nice grocery getter.

The rear end of the 2012 Ninja 650 reminds me of the Yamaha FZ8.

For some reason.. The tail just looks too short vertically and horizontally.. Other than that, I think it looks great.
