odometer too fast to rack up miles?

So i pull into the gas station right when it turned to 301 miles. I pumped gas and resert trip odometer " A " Ran a quick errand trip " A "showed 2.5 miles while the regular odometer had gone up to 4. Even before that i felt it was racki g uo miles too fast. But then again mathematicly speaking it could of showed 301 but it was actually 301.5 + 2.5 mile errand = 304
But it had just changed as i when over the speed bump ...

It sounds like you explained exactly what happened, not sure why this is a problem?
