Complete bike rebuild project

Had a great opportunity to get a bike that was completely in pieces from someone.
Had been sitting for a long time because he just didn't have time or know how to put it back together.
This opportunity came at the mere price of letting him ride it, what was his first bike, again when I get it back together.

Naturally I jumped on this opportunity, bike is a 1990 Honda NS50F.
A fire breathing beastly 50cc two stroke motorcycle.

This is what they look like when in one piece,

This is what mine looks like,

The engine will take awhile to get together as it was for the most part, fully disassembled.
Even worse is the guy he had doing the work previously who gave up on it, didn't really organize all the bolts, washers and other various pieces.
So I'm left to guess what goes where based on the drawings in the service manual.

Here is what I've got with the engine so far,

The new cylinder was already in place luckily, so far I've only assembled the transmission gears (six speed tranny!) and the shift forks.
Took forever to put the shifter forks on because I assumed the shifter drum was installed correctly but it wasn't.
Once I realized this, it went a lot more smoothly.

Next up I'm putting the other half of the transmission case on, already found all the correct bolts. Just need to figure out which ones go where.

Here's my ghetto work bench (aka desk in my closet)

You can see the clutch to the right a bit, all the parts were rounded up for that.
And in the red cup I have all the parts for the kick starter assembly.

Not pictured are all the body parts, including the tank which needs to be painted.
So far I believe everything to be there, don't think there is anything missing.
It's just a matter of figuring out what goes where.

Should be fun!

Looks like it'd be a lot of fun! I've always liked taking things apart and putting them back together, especially when I had to guess, but I've never done anything remotely close to this scale!!! Have fun and keep us updated on the progress. Can't wait to see the finished product!

LOL! That's awesome! It's so simple I bet once you get the engine back together it's a quirky little bike with such light weight and 2 stroke powa!

Took the crank case halves to a friend with a blow torch and finally got these suckers together.

Now I can make some progress on this mofo!
