loud pipes

What do you guys think about the "loud pipes save lives" thing. Something I've realized from seeing other ninjettes is that while it may seem loud when in on it the sound of the engine doesn't carry very far. I'm considering getting a tbr pipe bur then again riding season is almost over. What do yall think about loud pipes
