----------------- Evening fell at Lusail just in time for the premier class race pace experiment and it seemed to confirm just how small the gaps are in the field, at least in Qatar. Johann Zarco only took the lead in the last minute of the session, after finding two tenths’ advantage on Takaaki Nakagami, but the rest of the top 10 was separated by mere hundredths of a second, with the top 19 riders covered by one second. Aleix Espargaro brought Aprilia to the fore in the closing stages as well, while Fabio Quartararo showed consistent pace on his way to fourth.
