[visordown.com] - Rossi to star at Goodwood Festival of Speed

MOVISTAR Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi is set to make his Goodwood Festival of Speed debut in June to celebrate Yamaha Motor Company’s 60th anniversary.

The nine-time World Champion is a huge fan of the legendary festival, but now he has received an invitation from Goodwood Festival of Speed owner Lord March, the Italian is looking forward to tackling the iconic 1.16-mile Hillclimb on-board his Yamaha YZR-M1.

The Hillclimb is Goodwood’s main attraction and is a technically challenging course as it rises over 300ft and puts the skills of the world’s best riders and drivers to the ultimate test.

Lord March said: “It’s terrific news that Valentino Rossi will be making his Festival of Speed debut this year. He’s the most successful premier-class Grand Prix rider in history and will be an incredibly popular figure for the growing number of extremely passionate and knowledgeable motorcycle enthusiasts that join us every year at Goodwood.”

After 36-year-old Rossi has raced the 8th round in the 2015 MotoGP Championship at the Dutch TT Circuit in Assen on Saturday 27th June, he will then fly to the UK to attend the event with Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd Executive Vice President Takaaki Kimura.

The theme at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed is ‘Flat-out and Fearless: Racing on the Edge’.
