Electrical.. something?
I have a 99 ninja 250. Had it since December. After replacing a bad water pump, I idiotically left the key in the ignition. Came back to it a few days later n the battery was completely dead, so I went n bought a new one, put it on, turned the key and nothing happened. I checked all the fuses, and the main fuse was blown. I replaced it thinking that it would fix it, but when I turn the key nothing happens still, I already checked the ignition fuse too, it looks good. But nothing electrical works at all, no horn, no lights anywhere, abd obviously no starting. Is it normal for a fuse to melt under those conditions? What connections/wires should I be checking next?

Ok so I just went out again to mess with it pulled the tank, disconnected and cleaned all the connections there. Turned key.. nothing. I decided to check the main fuse again n it blew again, but it's never been on?? I am pretty certain there are no extra appliances pulling current, what would cause the fuse to blow with the ignition off??

Which fuse is blowing?? the 10A one??
I would check the wiring from the fuse box to the ignitor and to the dash board to see if it is damaged and maybe shorting to ground. if it is the 20A fuse check wiring from the fuse to the regulator and ignition switch. this would cause nothing work Another dumb question... is new battery charged??? Hope this helps |

Then you should check wiring from the fuse to the regulator and ignition switch.
Attached is the diagram posted here in other thread to help |
