$20 solution to fan switch problem

I am posting a $20 ($19.90 w/shipping) solution to our $60 thermal fan switch problems. I bought the part (241-999001) in the hopes that it would work...and it does! I have tested it for a week now with no problems. The part is a perfect fit. Just sharing this because the info I have gotten from this site has been invaluable, thanks.

This part will replace 27010-1304, which can cost up to $60.

Is this a pre-gen only problem? Because I've never heard of it...

I've never heard of it either. I know the temp threshold on pregens for the fan to switch of can range anywhere from the gauge's halfway point to almost into the red, but I've never heard of there being a problem with the switch.

Very few people have "actual" problems with these IME. But even if the part was bad, You can get one from a wrecked bike for $20 shipped or less.
