We actually want opposite. Government is already colluding with oil companies to control price of gas. They've been subsidising every gallon sold to lower price to less than actual cost. And letting oil companies getting away with not paying any taxes.

I think what you're after is change in policy in how government deals with oil companies. Yeah, forget about that. Too many in-bred big-business connections between them. Many govnt offcials are oil execs and vice versa. Condoleeza Rice has Chevron oil-tanker named after her. We installed Unocal exec as President of Afghanistan, etc.

It's really Eisenhower who started it. He proclaimed we will build society, culture and infrastructure "around the automobile", and now we're facing repercussions from that. I think he finally regretted that in end and warned of the growing military-industrial complex monster that was developing...

well, one good thing about higher gas prices is it makes EV more attractive. With less free charging available from schools and other publik sources, to operating costs of EV in SF Bay Area is same as auto getting 30mpg. Now with higher prices, it's comparable to auto with 40mpg.

Out here in AZ with power costing 1/2 as much, EV can compete my Ninjette getting 60mpg.

I tanked up today in the CRV it was down 1/4 from full it took 4.8~5.2 gal something like that .... but the price has come down to $5.19 a gal.... i could hardly believe that ! maybe the initial scare is off the delivery outlets now and
the price will settle down !
.....scare tactics are their forte, that what they do best they are the most paranoid people in the industry, My dad had horror story's to tell about the Shell Rep. he had to deal with when he owned a gas station in Santa Rosa !
( the big shell gas station by the Flamingo hotel .... back in the 1970's )
....
Bob....

Prior to the price of gas going up I would let the tank go down to empty (warning light comes on). Now I only let it get down to half a tank and fill up. It seems to hurt less tahat way.
