I never understood who "ghost rider" is. I know that there's a crappy movie with Nicolas Cage in it. But, does that ghost rider have anything to do with it?

Nothing to do with that Nicolas Cage movie. Ghost Rider is this scandinavian guy who rides motorcycles (and other vehicles) ridiculously fast on public roads. He often gets chased by the police and then escapes. That video @miss_syn linked is of Ghost Rider. He crazy!! I think he's done like 6 films. They're intense!

Alright. Isn't there a way the cops could track him down? Or do they just not care enough?

In the US he'd probably been shot or had a cruiser smashed into him by now. Sweden (where i believe most of the films are) has slightly different policies.

And volvo station wagons...

But you still would have been busted by officers at your door. They must have some law that says they can't bust you after-the-fact.

If they have get your plate, and its not stolen you are correct. they do have fancy little things that hide your plate though, like and electric arm thing.. but yeah. I bet that guy isnt rockin any plates either...

Technically (at least in PA) even if the cops get your plates and you get away, unless they have some form of proof (video, etc) that proves you were operating the vehicle they can't technically charge you for it.

However you can bet your ass when they run your plates and get your address they will be hanging around looking to make your life hell and catch you doing something else wrong.

A close friend bumped into a state trooper years back. while we were standing outside waiting for him to arrive he blasted past screaming "ILL BE RIGHT BACK!" and tore up the road. A few seconds later the trooper came flying past lights ablaze. Next day they showed up at his house. They took a slow walk around the car while he hid inside the house then they left. Later that day he got pulled over by a K9 unit not far from his place. He wasn't doing anything atm. speed limit, not swerving etc etc. But they pulled him over (it was raining btw) Ripped every loose bit out of the car including his subs, ran the wet and muddy dog through hunting for.. well basically nothing. Then told him to drive safely and left.

So even if they don't catch you don't think they wont get you.

Besides all those pronouns in the first couple sentences of that story, I think I understood most of that.

It sucks that law enforcement can legally do that. The local police did that when I was in high school. The school had 2 days a year when they would have the police come in with drug dogs and sniff all the lockers and class rooms and cars in the parking lots. The only thing they couldn't have the dogs sniff was your person. They made you take off any hoodies/jackets, and leave the room while the dogs sniffed. If the dogs so much as took as second look at your locker, backpack, or car, the lovely officers would search you bag, and throw your locker all over the ground to make sure there wasn't drugs in it. If the dogs looked at your car, the police would tear it up. They would take apart all the seats and the trunk and the ceiling. Whenever they searched something, when they were done, they would just say, "ok bye", and leave you to put your backpack/locker/car back together. It was kind of ridiculous.

They did this twice a year for 3 of the 4 years that I was in school. I think they tore up 3 cars, a dozen lockers, and only caught 3 or 4 kids with a little weed. Don't get me wrong, I was fully in favor of the school doing drug searches; getting drugs in a public high school is way too easy. But I don't like or agree with the methods and legality of it all. It's not fair.
