My Ninja is a Fart Machine
Here's an interesting one....
'08 Ninja. Kleen air system removed. Pods installed. Custom 2-1 exhaust (piece of junk). Needles shimmed up w/ 3 washers. Bike starts, idles, and rides fine. Funny thing is...whenever I hit a significant bump in the road my bike lets out a massive backfire. I find it somewhat amusing but its definitely interesting. Anybody got any ideas? |

Try rechecking all your seals (pods, carbs), especially on the custom exhaust. Replace the old exhaust gaskets if you have not done so.
The hard bumps may be causing a slight separation. |

could it be the side stand safety switch caused by the side stand bouncing

I dont have a side stand safety switch. I jumped it/disabled it a while ago. Plus, its certainly not electrical-electrical would mean the bike cuts in and out after a bumpski rather than running consistently and taking a massive fart after a bump.
I think the exhaust gaskets are the most likely culprit...could be the rider too.... |
