apex brake lines.

i was rounding out my amazon cart to get free shipping and decided that some stainless brake lines should be about $20. there not..at first that is. the sticker shock made me do a quick search and i came up with

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NINJA-250R-5...26a726&vxp=mtr

now...how are these any different than any other brand? there must be something because there half the price. looked around the net and no bad reviews.

so what do ya think? i think i have some really cheap lines for my bike and my car.

anyone had theirs on since the first GB? Any issues, corrosion of fittings, splitting of the coatings, anything? I bought some for my track bike at the first GB but want a set for the street bike

I think I had mine since the first GB. I installed them on 07-27-13 and put 13k miles on them so far. I got the red lines and black banjo fittings. I remember that the black banjo fittings faded to a greenish color after a few months. Right now some of the red has faded to white/clear near the exhaust and a little near the handlebar. It also looks like there is some cracking on the rear where it does the u-turn. See pics.

^^ that was a little bit of what I was afraid of for the street bike. It gets ridden to commute 75% of year and left outside while at work while the track bike is in the garage 75% of the year. I may have to look into a bit more expensive line that will hold up a little better.

I bought mine right before that group buy from apex. I'm sure I installed mine right around the same time as you did. Exactly the same issues. I haven't put nearly as many miles as you have even. Bunch of miles in the rain, but still, looks like yours.

I can't tell from the pictures, is this just a cosmetic problem?

well the non cosmetic problem I see is the protective coatings getting dry and cracking and well, not protecting - biggest concern there.

Brakes still work as firmly as before. Its just the plastic coating over the SS braided lines that's dyed red and covers the SS braided lines. Haven't leaked a drop of fluid so yes, just cosmetic. Still, looks ******. I need to find some higher quality red SS lines too.

you may be able to reduce the weather damage with a dressing on the lines when you wash the bike some, but ultimately will end up "weathering"

I am under the impression that the protective coating is more for protecting your bike from the line, not the line from the elements.

It does look a bit weak, esp since it is just 1/5 of it way though it's life span. Wonder if the clear will hold up better.

I usually have my stuff done there. So far no issues and it's super cheap. My last project had 4 brake lines and 1 clutch line and ended up being like $60 something for all of them (it was a car). Made them while I waited.

Also they did some quick disconnect stuff for me for some nitrous builds. No issues there either.

Buy high quality lines from a trusted source. No need to mess around when it comes to brakes.

Isn't that what we are talking about?

Or do you mean useing a high volume manufacturer is better than one that builds to order? Suggestions?

Local or high volume. As long as they have a proven product that they stand behind.

For instance, I bought HEL lines and they custom made them for me. They have lasted three years and are still perfect.
