I use the abs plastic painted ones that Kawasaki conveniently wraps the bike in from the factory. No installation needed!

Seriously though, not sure sliders are really necessary. The 250 seems to crash well and sliders have a tendency to make wrecks worse by digging into things and flipping the bike as it slides.

No frame sliders.

Every bike I have seen with frame slides looks less attractive because of them. Plus it is true that they sometimes cause more damage in the event of an accident.

i just bought some random ones off of ebay...
they were easy to put on only needed like 4 different tools and BAM...
plus i dont just have them in case of a wreck but also in case i park it somewhere and someone tries to see how cool they would look on it and they accidentally tip it over or someone runs in to it with their car "thinking" my bike wasnt there...or even just me moving it and i accidentally drop it or something...

I've seen a guy (he's a member on here too ) lowside his bike 2 times in a row at the track and his shogun sliders saved his bike from hundreds of dollars of repair. YMMV.

Shoguns on my bike

Crashed with them twice, pretty much no damage other than a small bend in the mounting bracket.

It works well in protecting the additional fuel lines of the efi kit.

dropped my bike in my driveway. slipped on ice. had to buy new lever, mirror, and fairing which alone cost 270. So I bought shogun frame sliders. The carbon fiber ones. Was not impressed with the quality of the carbon fiber for the extra cost on top of just black. Were easy to install.

I went with T Rex Racing. My wife is learning to ride on the 250. Had a parking lot tip over and zero damage! Except for some scuffs on the slider of course.

Compared to my buddies gsxr, the 250 sliders are expensive and time consuming install. Unless I'm looking at the wrong ones?
I still want these but I need ones that will fit perfectly

Yoshimura Frame Sliders

this is a pair of Yoshimura frame sliders installed on my 2012. I had the dealer do these but bike was stolen(long story) and have gotten another 2012 250 and will be installing these myself this time. IMO they look good but they are not cheapest ones out there but pretty solid.

Doesn't seem like they protrude very much, which could be counterproductive. Any slider is better than no slider though (under certain circumstances)

some good suggestions, thanks for the input. i'm still annoyed with having to pay over $20 for a veritable piece of bs plastic, but i guess you just have bit the bullet when you're racing...

If all you are getting is a piece of plastic then you bought the wrong slider.

I do, but I think you also know that if you get some of the good brands, there was more effort into the product than simply molding a plastic puck.

the original premise of the discussion was regarding the frivolous nature of "no-cut" sliders, imo unnecessary for a race adaptation at least, and increases costs. Also, down a more technical / logistical path, i have had bad luck with multi-point sliders actually bending my frame on impact vs single point. ultimately it's a stupid frame slider, if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it! I won't... best, Jeff

Have the 250r's fairings off for Winter maintenance.
Part of that is having a look at the PBR Sprockets frame slider on the left side.
The previous owner had been down on the left, and my wife had a slow fall stopping on gravel, on the left.
This pushed in the slider, and loosened it up.
On closer inspection, there didn't seem any way to tighten the end piece.
Don't like the design of this slider, one mount, and then offset approx 6".

The backside of the slider was pushed into the cylinder block, leaving a bit of a mark.
Any harder impact, I hate to see what could happen to the engine.

Found the Yoshimura kit, and liked how the mounts are bolted to more than one spot.
Yet to install them...

My 2010 250R came with LighTech frame sliders when I purchased it last summer. They attach to the frame in 3 places. The left slider was badly bent upwards and inwards with the end badly scuffed. When I bought the bike, the left slider was bent upwards and inwards so badly that it had pushed into the fairing above it and cracked it. Clearly the bike had been crashed and skidded for a while. When I took the fairings and slider off, the frame was not bent at all. I managed to straighten out the bent slider with a lot of heat and pounding. No doubt I weakened it but I don't really care.

All in all, considering how badly mashed the slider was, the fact that the frame was not bent indicates to me that the slider worked pretty well.

The Yosh kit looks lots more substantial without any cantilever arms. Certainly well designed. Can't wait to see how it looks mounted!

Have mounted the Yoshimura frame sliders.
The left side I needed to file the front engine mount hole a bit, as I couldn't get it to line up.
These sliders have a bracket that mounts to where the fairing mount bracket is, and to two engine side case screws, and the front top engine mount.
Three sturdy places.

Fairings back on, not as hard a job as I thought it was going to be.
Sliders sitting a little lower, so wondered how they'd line up with the fairing cut outs:

I have sliders but it's inside the fairings, I think their Woodcraft. I currently don't have my 250 with me but I'm sure they're Woodcraft underbody sliders.
