Race Wire Harnesses - how much would you pay?

I'm going through a 2008 250 and converting it into a race bike. One of the things I'm doing is cleaning up the wiring harness and taking out all the extra crap for lights, kickstand, key, etc. I'm working with a friend with all the fancy crimpers/connectors to make it a super nice harness instead of just cutting out the wires. Is there a market for these harnesses? My friend does them for gixers for about $150/harness. What would a 250 price point be? There's generally less complexity on a 250, and we're known for being CAR's. At the same time, if there is a market, it needs to be worth the time to do it.

Please provide opinions candidly. Thanks!

half the cylinders means half the spark plugs right? that's basically like half the wiring... kinda. 75$ sounds about right.

Let me add more detail. This would involve taking your stock harness and removing what you don't need. So the plugs/coils wouldn't be affected and the number of cylinders would matter.

- keyless ignition, using your kill switch as the on/off
- headlight, tail light, blinker, and relays removed
- any dash lights/indicators you're not using
- kick stand switch removal
- clutch switch removal
- tip over sensor removal
- fan removal if desired
- horn removal
- Diode A and Diode B removal

Andy of AP Moto Arts can do it and he actually moves the ignitor to mount on the front if you dont run the OEM gauges. I don't know the exact cost since he worked on my bike doing a lot of stuff. Cleaning up my existing wire harness was included.

$100 is the most I would pay for a reworked wire harness

What's the advantage of moving the ignitor to the front?

Less wiring needed for the bike...so basically there is no wiring beyond seat. I bet he would figure out a way to mount the battery (especially if you're running one of those small lightweight ones) up further also. It cleans up the bike so maintenance is easier as well as diagnosing. Weight savings is very small.

Ignition switch weighs 1.5 lbs.

Most I would pay is about $50 bucks, but I'm cheap and capable of doing it myself...

I guess if you couldn't or wouldn't want to do it yourself, you could have a market.

When I first bought my bike the wiring harness was already modified/simplified for race only and keyless ignition. Out of the many times that I worked on it I think there were only one or two fuses throughout. I never checked the new wiring harness that Andy did. When I get my bike back in September for SoCal we can take a look at it.

I would get one as I would not want to trash my stock one. Of course this assumes that there is no core or exchange policy.

Only one fuse needed. The point of the diode is to keep the starter motor from possibly back-feeding and taking out the ignitor unit. I'd study the diagram and not remove that one. Been down this road before.
