DIY maintenance stand for wheels
Anyone who has done any type of maintenance on their wheels (change tire, disks, etc.) knows how important it is to properly support the wheel, while at the same time preventing anything from contacting the brake disks. After a few seasons of precariously balancing my wheels on 2x4s and 4x4s, I decided to make something a little nicer. I wanted something that was a little gentler on the wheels' paint, and something that wouldn't fall over if bumped. A special thanks to my brother-in-law for building the frame.
Here is my solution. The carpet isn't necessary, but adds a nice touch and protects the paint. I didn't have a wheel off for illustration, but you get the idea with the old tire.

I was helping my brother-in-law today with the brakes on his car. This gave me an idea for my next 'overly-useful' tool. I'm going to come up with a quick & easy solution to hanging the calipers without cutting and tyeing it up with twine or wire. It will likely be with picture frame hanging wire, and a small carabiner.

My OP is too old for me to have editing access, but here are some updated pics during the inaugural wheel support.

Easy enough! I just use some scrap 4x4's from work haha. The carpeting is a nice touch though!
