buying drinks at the bar

I have a question for the men and women here. I've noticed that men go to bars and buy drinks for women in hopes for something in return, what is your take on this.

Being a woman, and going to bars/clubs with my girlfriends, I've had discussions with them where they say that they leave their money at home cuz "thats what the guys are for". so in essence, some girls go out to the bars and scout out guys to buy drinks. What do you think about this?

I use to work as a bartender for a very short time, I would notice a fairly decent looking guy come in, sit at the bar order his drink...he would look through the crowd of women and pick out the most hottest girl and go up to her and ask her if she wanted a drink, if the girl said no...he'd come back to the bar and look at the crowd of women again and pick out another hot girl, but maybe less hotter then the first...then offer her a drink...as the night went on...he would just go from hot to not so hot women till he caught someones attention. Just want to see what your take on it is.

Never buying girls drinks ever again. In my opinion it's close to prostitution but without 'providing the service'.
If this is a way to chat someone up, try 'hi' instead. It's cheaper, and offers pretty much the same outcome

I might have done that once or twice... It felt like everybody stared at me and thought 'loser'... And partly because when I see other guys buying drinks for girls they don't know, and the girls just take them and run away... I look at those guys and think to myself 'loser' - oh well, I've been there too LOL

I only do it if they buy me the first drink cause then you know they have at least a little interest in you and are not just flirting with a different guy every half hour for a drink.

Nope, I've never bought a girl a drink that I didnt know. Its a waste. Most likely they wont talk to you after the get that drink.

BUT, if you can manage to have them stick around and get them drunk, then maybe they guy may have a chance!!

the only time i took a drink from a guy and walked away, was when a guy approached me and asked me to dance, i said um...no thanks, and my tone make it very obviouse i WAS NOT interested, then he went on to say...want anything to drink. i said sure...and bought the drink, handed it to me, and i walked away...bitchy yes...stupid of him...most certainly.

I think that if a guy offers to buy a girl a drink he should do it with the intention of not expecting anything in return so that he will not get disappoint if nothing comes of it but be pleasantly surprised if things do go well.
I also believe that a girl should not ask a guy for a drink. If a guy is interested in her than he will offer her a drink. For a girl to go from guy to guy in search of a drink is not right and makes her a user and a wh***. Just my 2 cents.

True, but MOST guys who go to bars are just looking for one thing. And women take advantage of this!!!!! LULZ They dress up all nice and sexy, ofcourse guys are going to be all over them. Duh

On a more serious note (yea right), I never go to bars to pick up women. I always go with friends and if I meet someone it is by accident. I find meeting woman at other locations easier and more fun (at least I can remember their name, more often). I like the gym, grocery store, or just out and about to talk to the ladies and there is much less stress for both parties. I talk to everyone everwhere so it's hard to tell if I'm hitting on someone. I have to admit I've been hustled by many a lady and find that fun too.

When I went to the bars frequently I always went with guy friends... I donno I get along better with guys than girls. They always bought drinks for me unless it was ladies night I ended up buying drinks for them lol. I used to get so mad at them because I felt like I was a moocher.

i know it's kinda messed up... but a few years back, when we were really broke, my boyfriend and i would go out, and i'd get guys to buy me drinks, and bring them back for us

I'm a bartender here in my town....let me tell you....its sad to see all the guys walking into a bar buying ladies drinks...ALL NIGHT. They just look desperate......

tip fella's....tell HER to buy YOU a drink. I've done it successfully and i've seen people in my bar do the SAME thing. Hahaha you have to say it right though without sounding like a dictator....more like a joke but serious enough so she can tell you aren't kidding. Walk up to her and say " hey you know I think your really pretty and I can tell guys have been buying you drinks all night so I know you have a ton of cash in your purse....I hate to leave it sit there so you can buy me a drink...i'll be sitting over there with my friends." works like a charm.

Never did the Bar Scene because I am extremely allergic to Cigarette Smoke. Sniffeling with eyes running and sneezing would not exactly make me apealling. I would meet women at Sailing clubs, Sports Car Autocrosses, Skiing, etc. Met my wife sailing. Been together 25 years.

better yet....if there is a group of lets say 4 women...pick the least attractive one...every group has one. i can honestly say i have NEVER bought any guy a drink...except my bf. so that wouldn't fly with me too well. but thats just me

thats pretty f'ed up!!! but i do see it working, unless the girls in that group have a unspoken agreement that no one steps on anyones toes for a man

ya you're right, it depends on the girl...when i go to bars i don't go there to pick up or to take someone home with me (yuck)...i go to drink and have a good time with the people i'm with...so if a dude asked me that, i'd be like wtf? unless by some crazy miracle some guy catches my eye and we make eye contact (i actually show some type of interest) and he comes up to me and says that, i'd be totally turned off.

But yes...law of the jungle....attack the weakest link. This is good in theory, though. Applying this in real life takes some finesse haha. You'd be surprised how many ugly girls out there think they're hot crap these days. I guess we're not the only ones who know about this method.

I just have fun at bars and chill. I would never buy a random hot woman at the grocery store a roll of paper towels in hopes of sleeping with her or getting her number, so why would I buy a hot woman a drink at a bar for the same purpose? Odds are slim in both cases.

However, if you ENGAGE the woman, at the bar OR at the grocery store ...now, my friends, my odds have increased substantially!

I just have fun at bars and chill. I would never buy a random hot woman at the grocery store a roll of paper towels in hopes of sleeping with her or getting her number, so why would I buy a hot woman a drink at a bar for the same purpose? Odds are slim in both cases. However, if you ENGAGE the woman, at the bar OR at the grocery store ...now, my friends, my odds have increased substantially!
