Driving a cage after driving a bike

So I have driven my bike for the last four months straight. I have put about 3000kms (1800mi) on it since I last drove a cage.
Today I stepped back into my truck (which is at my parents house). Man, it was weird. I used to be a good car driver, but man o' man... I had a hard time getting used to the slow acceleration, the stiff brakes, and the trying to stay in the lane haha :P The truck is like the width of the lane, its a '90 GMC Sierra... My mom always said it handled like a tank, but now I know what she means haha...

Does anyone else suffer this problem haha? I think its going to take a few days to get used to :P

Other than getting used to the differences between the vehicles, I find riding a bike makes me a better driver. My bike "radar" doesn't turn off just because I hop into a cage.

Well I think I was more aware... but as far as driving skills... I think they went from like an 8 to a 7 :P

I feel that way. I jump in my jeep now and I am surprised the thing can go on the freeway it is so slow. I mean, jeeps aren't fast by any means. But throw some 33" tires on it and a couple hundered pounds you will be amazed at the difference.

Don't think I am a worse driver for having ridden my bike for so long this summer. I think I am better, more aware.

And the acceleration is better in my car

It's always funny when I climb back into my car after even just a few hours of riding.
I find I don't use enough brakes at first after being used to engine braking on the bike.

Only time my brain has a problem, is going from the Truck to the Car. Dont know why, can switch between other things without even thinking about them. < Like car to truck is OK

I haven't seen anyone reporting low 5's for 0-60 with the new-gen ninjettes, but anything's possible... FWIW my Speed3 accelerates significantly harder than the ninjette. Certainly doesn't mean it's much more fun on a twisty road though.

For the 1st gen 250's. Just about every comparison test of the new-gen has it in the 7's. (and to be honest, casts a little doubt on the wikipedia # for the 1st-gens as well.)

I can't comment on the new-gen bikes because I know little about them. But a number in the high 5s (or low 6) would not surprise me for the pregens, given by comparison the old Suzuki Hustler 250s would do 0-100 in 6.2s and the 1/4 mile in 15.3

yeah... but those had 2 stroke engines. I had one... it used to fly!

Stage 1 2007 WRX engine in a 1998 Impreza RS. Not low 5s but neither is the 250

Guess that's why you don't depend on the internet for 0-60 figures.

Figured low 5's was a reasonable figure for the new gen one as the 5.7 seems fairly accurate for my older one.
Based on some, uh... ''comparisons'' I've done with friends cars.

Same here... I find myself scanning for potential disasters a lot more now. I haven't had any issues switching between cars and bikes yet. Although I drive a lot more than I ride this time of year. That will probably change over the summer.

Camaro, that's a great shot of the Subaru. I'm jealous that you guys have rally events in the snow. Our rallycross season ends in November here, and we never get snow that early.

Today was a lot better. A lot :P I think it was just the big difference in vehicle performance, and the size difference :P

I also felt like I was boxed in more in the truck... like I was in some sort of giant cage :P

I drive my trucks a hell of a lot more than the bike, since it's snowy here. I also spend 40 hours a week in a 2008 Crown Vic.

I'm putting in for a traffic spot at work next year, so maybe that'll change when I scoop up a 2009 HD Electra-Glide.

When going from bike to car, with my last car being an automatic.After a weekend of riding, I would keep trying to find the clutch pedel and would reach for the shifter for about the first hour. weird, Now I have a clutch so I won't feel so dumb!

After I ride my bike for a few days straight, it's hard to go the speed limit in my car. When I first drive my car, 25mph feels like its about 10mph since its so calm compared to being out in the open.

Never measured it, but was thinking about it last night, and you are probably right. The new 265hp 2009 WRX is in the high 4s.

Guess you should get a tiptronic transmission for when you are feeling the urge to shift haha :P

Haven't had any issues going back and forth between car and bike.

It's a totally different feel and doing one doesn't really impact the other for me, as far as operation. I am more aware in my car now though.
