Throttle Blipping at Red light/intersection

When you sit at a red light/ intersection do you sit there and give the bike some gas and just rev it frequently? I find myself always doing that, almost like my mind thinks my bike will stall if I don't rev it a little constantly. (even though my bike runs fine) I'm just weird?

I wouldn't say I'm revving the engine high, more so like the 3-5k range. However, I can easily see how people will think that when I put the dan moto exhaust on it. And I don't do it to show off... I just do it sub consciously

5k is pretty high lol. If I revved the bike to 5k at a light, everyone would definitely notice.

Also, just to note. I would imagine anyone behind you who likes to speed will think that you are going to launch fairly quickly from the light and might ride you by accident at first because of that. I could be wrong, but something to keep in mind.

The only time I have found myself revving the engine is right before I park up my bike. I think I do it because I feel sad that my ride has come to an end, so I want to extract that last tiny bit of pleasure from the bike by hearing the sound of the engine.

It's not a Hardley so it doesn't need to be revved every 10 seconds to keep from falling apart (That's why they do it isn't it )

I voted the last, just cause it looked so appealing.

But I don't rev at stoplights....noise pollution and air pollution.

Just get a litre bike. Rev it all the time at lights. Take off like a gram'ma in your shorts and flip flops.

The only time I rev the bike a pic is when I first start it up. After that I don't see the need to rev the bike at lights or stop-signs. I hate those Harley folks who do it! It really grinds my gears.

Dont rev your bike when you first start it, its not good for it. Wait atleast 30 seconds to a min to get the oil flowing and up to temp

I definitely wouldn't trust myself on a litre bike. Those things are way too crazy for someone with my amount of riding experience lol.

That is what I meant. I don't rev it til it has be running for at least 30sec. I do it to see how the throttle is responding to tell if the bike is warmed up. I never rev it over 7k until it has been running for at least lie 5 minutes. I am not a retard. I hardly ever use the choke. If I take off with it on I always forget to turn it off. And then I come to a stop after a little riding and am like why is it idling so high. Lol Then I see the choke is still on. Duh.

Same here, it’s almost like a ritual to rev it one last time before putting it away for the day (or week if the weather suddenly decides to go bad..T_T)

I usually don’t find myself revving at lights because I don’t trust people enough. Old people might get freaked and stall, young guys can take it as a challenge or insult… but sometimes when I’m annoyed I will rev it at a light for no apparent reason other than perhaps allowing the bike to blow off some of my steam…

Group rides are a different affair, since there’s a whole lot of revving at lights, tunnels and any other arbitrary places ~_~ our group can be pretty immature when we try.

Only time I rev the bike at a red light is when the car in front of me won't go. I have a 2bros exhaust and often revving does the job, instead of me having to honk. Plus, some how, I feel like revving the engine instead of honking it a slightly more politer way of getting someones attention. :-)

And that is exactly why I bought a 250 instead of a 600....Not the car pulling out but the shear speed. I haven't ridden my 600 in a year or two simply because it is so easy and so friggin' fun to just twist the wrist and...................Bang you're flyin'. I quit riding the 600 because I have been pretty lucky all these years. I have had more than my share of close calls, low-sides(too many to count), been t-boned at a four way stop, had the front wash-out and slide 6 inches only to miraculously hook back up, ect.....I knew if I kept it up that one day the pigeons would come home to roost...........I bought the little ninjette a try not to look back.

I do the same thing! One last rev before I shut it off. Other than that, the only time I rev at a stop light is when I first turn the choke off. If the rpms immediately drop to 1200-1300 I know its warm enough. Its already a pretty cool looking bike so no need to draw more attention to it.
