What's a fair price?

http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/mcy/4819245123.html

2002 Suzuki DR200 with 2500 miles on it, self proclaimed "above average" condition, recent tires. He's asking $1,800, KBB says $1,500 from a dealer. What would people here recommend offering for it, assuming the condition is as advertised?

What does the book say for a private sale price in that condition?

I'd get closer to that. Asking more than the price from a dealer may mean they think it's worth more than it is.

I think the price they have listed is their happy price. $1750 ish, meh, IMO I think that is high for the bike.

I'd say somewhere around $1200 is a fair price for that bike. There's no way you should pay more than what a dealer would charge.

Thanks for the input. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see a private sale price on KBB, only buy from dealer (1500) and trade in to dealer (965).

12 year old bike = 208 miles a year, wonder how many hours he has on the engine, since it is a dual purpose.

A fair price is the price you are willing to pay

If you like the bike make an offer. But, look it over closely.
