The 2016-2017 KTM 1290 Super Duke GT is being recalled because of a potential fuel leak. The recall affects 487 units of the Super Duke GT in the U.S.. Despite having much in common with the GT model, the Super Duke R and Super Duke Adventure are not included in the recall.

According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Administration, a preformed fuel hose (see picture below) on affected units may develop cracks or small holes which could potentially leak fuel. Affected hoses may show some bulging or may be dripping fuel. KTM attributes the problem to variations in the production process from the part supplier, ContiTech.



The problem was first identified on Nov. 9, 2016, when KTM discovered the preformed hoses did not up to specifications. ContiTech began an investigation and found the variance in its manufacturing process. KTM then began worldwide recall procedures.

KTM dealers will replace the preformed hoses with a new part that meets the required specifications. KTM estimates the work should take only 20 minutes.
