Bike mechanical problems

After reading a thread on to buy or not to buy an extended warranty I decided to make a poll to see if anyone has any mechanical problems with their bikes and if so: 1) how old was the bike and 2) what were the problems and cost to fix.

As for myself I bought my bike new and have not had any mechanical problems with the bike.

I have an 08, and other than the CDI issue (2 CDIs replaced, and one tach) which I had worked under warranty and a faulty fuel level sender (which I replaced with an ebay part since it was faster than waiting for a part from Kawi and the service department), no other issues at all to report.

Neither were major issues, mostly annoying, especially due to the fact that the two systems should have worked from the factory. Other than that, I have the service manual, tools, and a healthy dose of mechanical skills. The only issues I wouldn't tackle would be an engine rebuilt, transmission rebuild, and the valve adjustment.

I had an 09 and had to replace the fuel sender twice, but besides that, no major mechanical problems at all. Rode the piss out of that bike and after 7 months and 15.5k miles later, no problems at all. Only issue was that I had to replace the chain when the dealership bought it and they said the life expectancy of that chain was about 7k ish. I had gotten twice that outta it. These bikes are awesome when it comes to reliablity

Yeah, motorcycling is my first real addiction. I've had my Daytona for a little over month and a half and have put 5.3k on it so far.

My '07 has only had one major mechanical problem: my clutch cable snapped. It had about 3500 miles at the time. It was about $120 to fix it, including ordering the part. I'm sure it would've been much cheaper if I had known how to do it myself. I've also had a few faulty plugs, but no big deal.

Just so you know, my vote was based on how long I've had the bike, not how old it is.

The poll is based on the age of the bike because the older a bike gets no matter how low the miles are something is more likely to break but thanks for posting.
