[visordown.com] - WSB 2015 MagnyCours race one results
NEWLY crowned World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea took the win in race one at Magny-Cours with team-mate Tom Sykes over four seconds behind in second. The opening World Superbike race of the day at a very wet Magny-Cours was won my Northern Ireland’s Rea after the race distance was reduced to 19 laps due to the deteriorating weather conditions. Kawasaki Racing Team’s Sykes took the lead, but was soon overhauled by team-mate Rea as the Yorkshire man made a mistake at Turn 8 which left him finishing 4.6 seconds behind Rea at the chequered flag. The podium was completed by PATA Honda’s Sylvain Guintoli who kept his consecutive run of podium finishes at his home circuit in tact. Finishing fourth, after a tremendous battle was Michael van der Mark on the second PATA Honda whilst Leon Camier was forced to settle for fifth ahead of Leon Camier, Chaz Davies and Matteo Baiocco. Voltcom Crescent Suzuki’s Alex Lowes completed the race to claim 8th despite crashing out of Superpole yesterday ahead of Leandro Mercado and Niccolo Canepa. Leon Haslam, who started from pole, put in a strong performance at the beginning, but faded and with seven laps to go he decided to pit for intermediate tyres which finished him in 16th.
