translation:

Just did 500 fork swap. the front caliper is only grabbing about 1/4 of the rotor making pad fall out with every compression.

solution:

make the pad grab more of the rotor.

LIKE I SAID...THIS FORUM ALWAYS COMES THRU...
Thanks alex...I'll have krazzy come to this forum.
Please correct me if I'm wrong here but...
I was thinking the pregen rotor was not of sufficient diameter to fully get into the caliper...when the caliper was mounted to a 500 fork. ??? Like maybe the mounting holes for the 500 caliper were 1/2" further away from the center of the wheel ????...because the 500's wheel was 1" bigger ?

Thanx Eddiekay,
So alex should I replace with a500 rim/wheel ,
Or could I use a bracket of some sort to fill the gap?

Or what if I reverse the fork and then mount the caliper? Facing front .

DONT DO THAT!

First of all it will just make things more out of wack. Second, the force through braking will work towards ripping the caliper off, not against it as usual.

The easiest solution is to get a 500 rim and rotor.
You can get a new caliper bracket
Or get a larger rotor (probably will need to be custom)

im not 100% but im pretty sure u dont need to swap out the rim (maby) i think u should try a different rotor but when i had the pre gen it looked like a bolt on swap thats y i got them. is there a bracket on the caliper that has multiple holes try mounting them in in another set of holes thats just my

looking at the part diagrams for the ex500 forks and the newgen ex250, they look almost identical. if the only issue is that the pregen rotor is too small, finding a larger rotor (ex500, newgen 250) will fix it. though it honestly wouldnt surprise me if it was slightly different. personally i would throw on a 500 wheel and rotor to complete the front-end swap. that way you know the parts were made for each other. the 500 wheel is a 17" just like the newgen 250 wheel, right? you might want to swap the rear end to 17" also if that is the case so you can have consistent tire choices.
