Country Music Lovers?

Personally....I think it'd be sweet to have a thread devoted to country music....post new songs, old favorites, updates on artists, cool concerts you've been to...whatever you please, but you don't need to hate on country music (i hear it from you people enuf already) :P

new favorite song:

I liked Taylor Swift singing with Def Leppard on CMT Crossroads. Does that count? I also like Chevy Van by Sammy Kershaw (1970's) and the song that they play in Smokey and the Bandit (Eastbound and down 18 wheels rollin'), but thats it. LOL.

Is it true that if you play a Country record backwards, that you get your girlfriend, pickup truck, and dog, back? (Just pulling your chain). I like Country Music--although it is mostly Bluegrass. Ever heard of a Maine group called "Evergreen"? Great stuff.

How about just a "music" section on the fourm? I like country music, but also many other types.

I have no problem adding subforums as demand warrants, but each needs to stand on their own and have reasonable traffic. I can't remember more than a handful of music threads, and I'm not sure that we'd need a separate area other than off-topic forum.

Yeah, I am not sure if it would be a hit or not. Kind of a hit and miss type deal. It was just a thought. Maybe have a vote on it?

Nope, because there's no incentive to vote against it. If we can find 50 separate threads in off-topic that we'd put in there, that would be a start.

I like country music. Great videos! I just turn off the sound and watch the hot girls and their pickup trucks.

Sometimes they make me and my hound dog so sad we just have to....drink more moonshine.

I like:

Merle Haggard
Kris Kristofferson
Johnny Cash
David Allen Coe
Charlie Daniels Band
Willie Nelson
Hank Williams
Hank Williams, Jr.
Hank Williams III
Jimmie Rodgers
Kenny Rogers
Patsy Cline
George Jones
Lyle Lovett

Those are the ones that come most readily to mind. I love Willie's Place and Outlaw Country on Sirius/XM. Don't listen to much new country, however. I think Tricephus hit the nail on the head in his song "Trashville."

I like Bluegrass every bit as much, maybe more, but the bluegrass channel on Sirius/XM isn't very good, IMHO.

I love country music...but not the ones where they sing about their wife running away with the cat. they lyrics have to be good. My fav is Tim McGraw...he's so awesome! i'd love to see him in concert.

Shinaya Twain is good too.
the dixie chicks were great when they were together.

One chick that needs to be booted out cuz she sucks is that annoying Taylor Swift. GRRR

i'm not even kidding. I drove across the US one time and I would listen to the local stations, and going through the southern states, most of the radio stations played country, so I gave it a try. I swear, some of those songs were ridiculous. I didn't know whether to laugh my ass off or to run myself into a cactus.

Ok, I love Johnny Cash. But, he did record this in 1968. I blame heavy drinking mixed with pills. And he was at Folsom Prison for a performance, so he might have been flustered. But, geez . . .

"I’ve been washed down the sink of your conscience
In the theater of your love I lost my part
And now you say you’ve got me out of your conscience
I’ve been flushed from the bathroom of your heart."

Funniest thing is that rhyming conscience with conscience doesn't even make the top five worst things about those lyrics.

I saw Tim in concert in Madison last year and a few years ago at Summerfest great shows as well! I remember listening to his albums when I was a little girl

I <3 Shania Twain...wish she did concerts around here more....

Taylor Swift bugs me sometimes....mostly cz she's played on almost every single station so you can never get away from her
