[visordown.com] - Horex reveals Caf Racer 33 Ltd

WE’RE not exactly tripping over Horex VR6s parked at every street corner but the firm has just revealed a new limited-edition bike to appeal to buyers looking for something a bit more exclusive.

Called the Café Racer 33 Ltd, it’s exactly what it says on the tin. A café racer. And the numbers will be limited to just 33.

Created in collaboration with aftermarket parts supplier LSL, the bike gets plenty of LSL parts including a new seat, tail cover, triple-clamps and footpegs as well as details like the headlight brackets and aluminium radiator cover. Both the front and rear mudguards are also new, as is the colour, which Horex describes – without the flamboyancy of some rival brands – as ‘brownish silver.’

The rest of the bike is made of usual high-end, off-the-shelf bits from Ohlins (43mm FGRT forks and TTX 36 rear shock) and Brembo (radial master cylinder and monobloc calipers) while Bosch provides the electronics wizardry including ABS. The centrepiece, though, is still the conversation-starting VR6 narrow-angle vee-six engine, which makes a fairly tame 126bhp from its 1218cc but has the sort of technical intrigue to keep engineering fans talking for ages. Three camshafts, for instance. And three valves per cylinder, in a radial configuration.

The threes continue when it comes to price. Each of the 33 Café Racer 33 Ltds will cost its new owner €33,333. Unfortunately, the UK still has no Horex dealers, so you’ll have to venture to mainland Europe to find one.
