Mounting Camera Above Front Tire

I want to mount a (mostly) hidden camera on my bike and I was thinking that under the front fairing might be a good spot. How much clearance is there between the front fender and the under side of the front fairing if you bottom out the forks? Would there be room for an ION Air, ReplayXD, or Contour under there if the forks are bottomed?

I don't think there will be in the event you fully bottom out...
The biggest I would try for that is a 808 camera or their big brother the mobius.

However, I think your going to want to re-think that placement.
A) you need to get to it easier to verify it's on/recording and such...
B) it will need constant power to record when bike is on... So wiring it up will need to be considered for your placement. Make sure the new wires won't interfere with the normal movement/space you have.

I'd just put it on a suction cup mount on windscreen and call it a day....

That's the exact thread I was going to point you towards.

The benefit of the mobius is that you can put it in dash cam mode where it starts recording when it gets power so you don't have to touch it at all.

I'm pretty sure the 808 is the predecessor to the mobius.

I want one that will record on power, and of the three I listed, only the Replay XD can do that for sure. I'll check out the 808 and Mobius too, thanks for the suggestions.

I'm not sure I want it on the windscreen, I like it clean...I'll think about other locations, maybe the headlights like that other thread you linked.

Don't use the 808, get their newer model the Mobius action camera. Which is under $100 and very small. You can practically mount it anywhere. If you want to see the quality of the video here's a quick shoot I did this Sunday. Battery life is 1.5 hours and with external power it can shoot for hours.

The Mobius can definitely record on power, it's pretty small too. You can also purchase other parts for it as well like different lenses and an extension cable that goes between the lens and the body of the camera.

I'm toying with the idea of mounting the lens in the head light body where the little light that the US models don't have is ( I can't remember the name of light ).

I just have to actually buy a camera to see if I can make it work.

That's be a cool spot if the view isn't blocked. That would also eliminate the whistling wind noise Mobius is notoriously known for. People have bought the Joovu case to help or tape up the mic openings. Also, one more thing you can't do is vlog since there's no external mic port. Yeah Mobius is the newer model to the 808. It hardware wise is the 808 w/ 1080p instead of 720p only.

The mobius does have extensions that would let you mount it there... However I would think the glare from lights would ruin it. Maye w/ HID's....
