Unhappy Throttle lag?

Not sure what the issue is here or even if there is one: when I twist the throttle I get a small about of lag from when I turn the throttle before the bike accelerates. It's hard to describe but it feels like the first few mm of travel doesn't do anything then the power starts to come on. I'm trying to be really smooth in my acceleration around corners and from a standing start and find that the bike feels like it is jerking rather than coming on smooth. Hope that makes sense. I've just had a 24k service and mentioned this to the guys who said that they'd turned the low throttle (I think that's what it was) up three turns. I can't feel any difference though. There doesn't seem to be any issue with sticking: turning the bars all the way doesn't make the engine change revs and I'm only feeling this from a fully closed throttle. No difference either from cold to operating temp to sustained riding.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

A.

Is it like the throttle is loose and you can roll it a couple mm without anything happen when the throttle's closed? There's supposed to be 2-3mm of 'play' in the throttle cables to make sure the throttle closes all the way when there's no input. If there's too much (or you just want to fine-tune it a bit) just follow the cables to the front right side of your carbs; both throttle cables hook up to a rotator cuff that's kinda hidden behind the radiator overflow reservoir cap. Just before the carb-end terminus of the cables is a clamp with screw threads and a couple nuts for adjusting the length of the cables a little bit.

However if you're talking about a 'bog' from a stop (when you give it gas engine revs up a bit, RPMs drops off then RPMs resume rising), that's likely a carb tuning issue.

It takes a while for the turbo to spoolup (spin fast enough). This is normal.

As a safety feature bikes are shipped in "B" mode to many markets outside the US. The "B" mode reduces power and throttle response. Dealers in these markets can not engage "A" mode until the bikes have at least 10,000km (6,214miles) on the odometer.

Paypal me $25.00 US and I will send you instructions to engage full power and throttle response.

whoops, it's time for me to adjust my cable then. I was getting pretty tired of going through the twisties on my way home from work with that irritating lag.

I want to make sure my turbo spools up readily.

Send me $50. These other guyz are just "shimmers" and really don't know how to do the full 33hp "A" mode.

Tks,

how fast are you turning the throttle? if you are expecting lightning fast throttle response, it ain't gonna happen w/ the CV carbs our bikes have. If it's a lean condition due to lean jetting, shimming will help.

Aloha, "Oscar"

Been spending a lot of time crashing with the dirt bikes.

Sounds like you've been having fun at the tracks?

Stay at sea level there, too, bud.

to solve the throttle lag i just adjusted the throttle cable to the point where the throttle is just about to open (do this with the bike on and watch the tach rise as you adjust it and then back off just a tad). also an easy way to solve the starting off lag from a stand still is too just ride the clutch a little..

I also adjusted the clutch disengagement point to about a 1/2 in of lever travel compared to the 3 in of
stock travel cause for me i have small asian hands and having to pull in the lever to more than half way was cramping my hands but dont go adjust it any more than that or you wont be able to disengage the clutch

eventually im gonna get pazzo levers to really to fix my problem but these are cheap and easy fixes
