Thanks. I am trying to get a set of straight J-series forks for much less than the market rate by having them straightened but I'm having a lot of trouble finding a machine shop that will even talk to me. They all try to blow me off and even interrupt me to make nonsense excuses like "we're set up for automotive uses" (as if motorcycles are not "automotive" ). I was under the impression that any machine shop with a press and V-blocks should be able to do it.

Anyway, if I find one then I'll let you know and make an offer, but my offer will have to factor in their cost and still come in well under the market rate for straight forks.

Also, as someone else said earlier, it's very rare that one fork is bent and not the other because it shouldn't be possible to impart force on one that isn't carried over equally unless the parts connecting them weren't doing their job (anything strong enough to bend the triple clamp or the axle would bend both forks first!). I know it looks straight, but there's a very strong possibility that the other would be "more straight" if I don't get both straightened together, so I have to factor that expense.

yep, I agree and won't dispute that fact. The only thing I can think of is that the deviation is so slight as to not notice on the second fork. The bike basically did an endo into a ditch/field and landed on the tail. That took the brunt of the damage. I put the silver part of the tube on a flat surface and rolled them both. One did not "appear" damaged while the other one showed a minimal amount of travel. like 3/8" or less at the other end of the black tube. If you are looking to pay less than market value I don't think it would be of any benefit of me to take them to a shop and pay them for "looking" at them.

Hey there Kevin, I'm back

I broke part of the little plastic from the throttle cable. Well I think its the throttle cable. The cable is coming from the housing on the right handle bar and it just kinda broke. Do you still have that part and can you show a pic just to be sure?

Kind of sucks because I need to get my inspection and that broken piece doesn't allow for the throttle to twist back fast enough. Also, I think water can easily get in now. Anyway, hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

Sorry for the delay Steve. Was out with the flu all last week and am just feeling human again. Did you still need this part? I can see if I still have it if so/

If it's the black curved guide on the cable that goes into the throttle assembly, it looks like it's formed to the cable itself. If that is the right part, I can send that to ya, just shoot me a PM with shipping address and what you'd offer for the whole cable assy.

Hey baddog do you happen to have any part of the rear fender left? Particularly the part under the passenger seat/storage area (part # 35023-0101).

Thanks.

Hey Baddog,

I'm sorry to have to ask, usually I read threads completely, but do you have the air box still? I'm looking for a pair of the air box boots.

See my wanted thread for reference: http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=124847

Thanks for any help you can give me.

The CDI? It mounts to the undertail, which is in his picture. Did you mean to say "that rubber piece?" It uses a rubber surround to attach. Due to over-heating and the installation of a new undertail without the mounts, I took mine out of the insulating rubber, glued some old PC heatsinks on the top and bottom with Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive, and made a mounting place using some perforated corner trim stuff that I think you are supposed to use when with corners made of drywall (putty then paint). The perfs allow for airflow.
