spark plug tool
Just bought a 1994 Ninja 250r and trying to get it running good. The bike came with all the original tools except for the plug wrench, so I can't pull the plugs. Is there anything else that works, or any way to get an oem plug tool without spending too much? Thanks in advance guys.

5/8 inch spark plug socket works just fine for removing them.

I don't know how much a normal plug wrench costs, but I'm pretty sure it's more than the OEM tool and it will likely require you to remove the tank where the OEM one articulates to get under the tank. I see that is costs about $20 new online (Part number 92110-1132), so it should cost less from an owner parting out the used OEM toolkit.

a craftsman plug socket (only have to buy it once) cost me less than $5... tank removal to save $15? I'll do it.

Spark plug tools are relatively cheap. I spent $23 on my Honda one, and I thought that was WAY overpriced for one.

So now I can't get the plug back in. The threads look messed up so I assume the threads inside the engine are as well. What do I do now. I've owned 5 bikes and countless cars and I've never had so much trouble just changing plugs.

Hmm... I read that the torque wrench isn't recommended and that it was easily possible to strip the threads tightening it to spec. Lemme look it up and see if they had any other advice.

Didn't use a torque wrench. Didn't even manage to get it threaded in due to the weird angle, then realized I must've stripped it trying. Feeling like kind of an idiot now.

Found it:
http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Changin...rands_to_avoid They do say that getting it threaded right is hard but they don't show a fix if you crossthread anyway. Perhaps their instructions to help get it threaded are still useful? |

Yes i did read that page, thank you. I should've taken the threading advice more seriously the first time. I did manage to get the new plug in. I will see if I can still get an oem plug tool from the dealer, since there don't seem to be any good alternatives online. Anyone have a spare one I could buy?
