Let's talk rain tires for the track!

For racing, what rain tires are you running? I've been looking at the Pirelli rains for the 300. I'm not to keen on the Dunlops that the 125s run. They seem fine for the 250's rear, but a little small for the 300. And I've been searching for the rain tires that the RC Cup guys are running, KR189 and KR389. Can't find them, except overseas.

I don't mind running street tires, I just know I won't feel comfortable pushing them. I almost bit the bullet on some Pilot Road 3's. They are as close to rain tires as you can get on the street.

I raced the Pirelli 100/125 combo on the 250 and it was wicked awesome. Lap time was only 3 seconds slower than my dry time.

My experiences with rain tires have all been with Pirelli's
- raced and won riding my 450 Supermoto (paved course only in the rain)
- rain season in Vancouver on my VFR800 (not D.O.T. But they should be in the wet! Greasy as %#!+ in the dry!)
-Track days on my 250
It's incredible how close they get to dry track traction!
My point is: if you are a serious contender then maybe splitting hairs between brands may be important otherwise just get a set of whatever you can for the track and be prepared to be amazed! Only fear will limit you! (Where is that fear thread Misti was discussing? )

Your local Pirelli race distributor (or the rep for whatever brand) can tell you. Not all sizes appear on the websites. They don't offer them to "the public" at least in my area. (They're not D.O.T. So not legal for the street)
