My Tach is still dead, common problem..

After my bike was in the shop for 8 days they finally told me they can't get a new tach from CowaSucky Dead tach is a common problem and Kawsaki doesn't have any in stock for now. At least I got to go pick up my busted bike so I can ride again To make myself feel better I just bought a nice mesh jacket, 2 pairs of gloves, 15/41 sprockets, bar end mirror, and a little 808 #11 keychain helmet cam plus a 8GB class 10 card for it \

so they're going to fix it for you once it's in stock, right? and they're going to make it up to you with an extended warranty...... right?

I just ordered the toys tonight. Give me a week. Camera ships from China so it will be 10-12 days. The bike shop said they'll put both my front and rear sprockets on for $65. That will happen soon I hope. I got them from http://stores.ebay.com/Jawzys-Powersports He assured me the front sprocket was a real JTF1539.15 for 2008+ no shim required.

tach

200 miles and my tach just died too. sounds like similar problem. my question is whether it's safe to ride. bike seems ok otherwise although it's been idling high recently (3500 rpms). may be the weather.

You realy don't need a tach. Just listen to the motor, she will tell you when to shift. You can rap these little bikes way up.

Do we know exactly if this is an issue with the tach itself or if its an issue with the tach signal?

I had this issue as well and its because of a defective tach. Joe, I'm in MI as well and my dealer just ordered me a new tach and I am about to take my bike in. So its weird they are out of stock.

You can still ride it without a tach just makes you listen to your revs instead of relying on the tach.

no problem listening to the engine - just sucks to have a dead tach on a new bike. :-)
