ninja SUPER SLOW!! after carb cleaning

after throughly cleaning my carbs my ninja is running extremely sluggish. . before i cleaned my carbs it was much faster but had to be kept ideling at 4-5000 rpm or it would cut off. also i had to let it warm up with the coke on for almost 10minutes every time. it idels consitantly at 2500 rpm and starts much easyer now. but it is still slower than a minivan now... please any advice would be greatly appreciated. sorry for any gramatical errors

i fixed it. the rubber carb boots at the top of the carb was pinched. its running fine now. i think i may need bigger jets though because i hafto idel it high when its cold after riding above 45mph. also is it typical to only be getting 40mpg? i only weigh 180...

Here's a link to a gas mileage poll. It is for the new-gens, but gives you an idea of the ranges people see. 40 mpg on the pre-gens sounds somewhat lower than average, but doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong, either.
