Modifying the snorkel

Has anyone every modded their snorkel?

I was thinking about either cutting it down to make it shorter or removing the diaphragm that runs down the center of it.

I don't have that much experience with small engines like this and wondered if doing this mod would do much if anything at all.

I have an aftermarket DanMoto exhaust and I will be shimming the carb needles soon. I noticed that you are supposed to remove the snorkel and the question crossed my mind. Thanks!

you dont have to remove the snorkel. also, instead of modifying it, why dont you just remove it entirely?

I've done both. Neither made a significant difference, although removing the resonator out of the middle makes it easier to put the snorkel back in. Removing the snorkel altogether is much better.

Should I still shim the needles after I remove the snorkel? Or won't it matter that much since I have a slip on and snorkel removed?

Yes. If you don't the bike will run like crap.

Don't touch the snorkel and don't put shims in your carbs. If you want power buy a full exhaust and a jet kit.

That's the way to go.

I started off with shimming and removing the snorkel. Shimming made the bike more enjoyable to ride.
