no coffee needed...yet

I just started a new job that involves an hour long commute, and I love my coffee in the morning. I was trying to figure out how to ride and have it, didn't want to funk up the camel pack so I went without. Well after riding for an hour at 70-80 MPH I found that I didn't really need my regular three cups, in fact I'm glad I only had a small cup before I left the house.

Does anyone put anything besides H2O in their camel packs? As I'm sure just like anything else I'll grow accustomed to the morning ride and want the coffee. Any tips on cleaning camel packs after some coffee with cream?

Coffee jones....

Maybe just get a dedicated bladder for your AM joe? Rinse with water after you get to work? Just a thought.

You could always get one of those 0.99c cup holders from walmart, ghetto rig it to your handlebars, go through the starbucks drive thru and ask for a straw with your coffee.... I've been able to drink through straws with my full face on.... Although, not while riding, I haven't mounted the cup holder to the bike yet....

I usually grab a cup before I leave, and once I'm at work, but my commute is significantly shorter than yours.

I have carried a milk shake in my tank bag before.

But concerning real options for you, um, I wouldn't put coffee in a camel back. It's some pretty nasty stuff and your camel back will never be the same again. BUT!! What you could do, along with the cup holder, is get a long bendy-straw, or a camel back tube only, and rig up a way to clip it to a mug/cup. The easiest answer would be to leave early, have a cup at home, stop half-way and have a coffee, and have another when you get to work = 3 cups. Excited to see what other's come up with...

Coffee is ready when I get up in the morning, have a cup or two, then pour the rest in a sealable stainless cup from REI, put it in my tail bag. My commute is around 45 min and I am able to enjoy the rest of my coffee before work and during the morning "this is what we have to do today" meeting.
