2009 Versys footpegs on the Ninja 250.

I wanted to share an absurdly easy mod - installation of 2009 Kawasaki Versys footpegs on the '08+. People usually put on all-metal race-type pegs, but if you want to have something rubberized that improves over stock, IMO these are a great and easily acquired choice.

A riding buddy of mine has a Versys and I liked the look of his bike's footpegs: solid, wide, narrow front-to-back, with what looked to be a pretty grippy rubber inlay. More of a real footpeg than the silly soap bars that come stock. I bought a set (no need for the feelers) and IMO they feel worlds better than stock... Better feel, grippy, solid, no problems with vibration, and they're lighter too. They are slightly wider than stock and have a little upturn at the end. I rode something like 550 miles on these the weekend after I installed them, and they're a big improvement.

They are parts # 34028B and 34028C for the KLE650-A9F at Cheap Cycle Parts, $23.19 apiece, and plug right into the Ninjette's mounts with no alterations, just a straight swap re-using the same type of post, spring, and e-clip.

Sweet. Does it change the height of the pegs at all? It looks like it would have a slightly lower profile because stock pegs have that rubber that ends up above the joints whereas these looks fairly flush. Can you confirm that?

They surface of the peg is lower than stock, yes, but not by much - maybe 1/4th of an inch or so. The stock peg's surface is hollow rubber which bulges out above the peg body, and if you compress it, that's about where the top of the Versys peg surface is anyway.

I felt better riding long distance on these than stock, and I think maybe that 1/4th inch more room was a small part of that difference, but it's tough to say.

Though small, It couldnt hurt. I'm not particularly cramped but the extra minute subconcious placebo effect of more room cant hurt. Thanks for letting us know of an alternative easy option.

Well these are like $23 each totaling to almost $50. How much were the pegs from the graveyard? Did you need to mod anything to the pegs to get them to fit?

I want to say they were 10 each one was a little road rashed though. I didn't have to alter them at all just a straight swap.

Nice. Looks like we have multiple options then.

Stock passenger pegs - w/ some modifications
2009 Versys - no mods, approx $50 new

Im willing to bet that any ninja pegs will work too like the 600s too, I just know that they had a ninja 500 and the 650 or what ever there but the pegs were the same as the 250

The funny thing is I was about to go the opposite way on my Versys. Still have the ninjette pegs, and was thinking of doing a back to back comparo to see which I like best on the Versys.

GSXR pegs will fit too...might have to lightly sand one side if they are tight.
Ive got them on my bike.

Yeah I think it should. I have it on my Versys. Never tried to fit it on the Ninjette.

Pretty cool but rubber footpeg = potential slip.

Diamond shaped grips (a.k.a. shin grinders) are the shizzle in all weather conditions.

Funny you should ask cuz I have OEM rearset for sale that has the rubber piece sliced up and underneath it's bare metal slick as ice. So, it's a no-go.

Lowering kit

I was just seeing if anyone actually tried the Versys lowering kit on the Ninja 250? I'm ready to order them, but if someone found that they don't work, I'd save my money. I hate how my legs rest against the sharp edge of the tank and think this could be the answer.

Ninjette pegs fit on the Versys and vise versa, so the mounting is the same, and you should have no problems with the peg lowering kit.

Here are the ninjette pegs on my Versys with the lowering kit.
