It is very VERY nice. I've never been to another place quite like it. It's our favorite place to stay every time we visit the area.

Less than 2 weeks left.... will you be going???
Need somewhere to stay???

It turns out, that I actually booked and paid for 2 rooms for Sat night in Sweetwater, TN (about 50 mins from the gap, and a nice ride in itself to the gap, and 2 of us to ride it with )
So there is 2 beds (doubles) and your own room available still if anyone needs it.
Solo will cost $45.00, which is much cheaper due to membership pre-order 2+ weeks early, cost is normally $80 a night.
If you want to split that room, it is preferred you make those arrangements.

You can post here or PM me to secure the room.

Hubby and I are going for Saturday night. We'll get there Saturday around lunch and leave Sunday late afternoon. We're staying at the Ironhorse Motorcycle Lodge and camping.
Excited! Ally

So do we have an estimate as to how many of us are going? I'm 1 assuming school work doesn't get in the way. That's the weekend after the 1st week back to school, so as long as I can keep my head above water so my mind is free and clear, we'll be coming up on Saturday, but probably won't get there until around 11.

Are you talking about from Ninjette or overall? Either way it's hard to say.

Lucas, I've got a room at the Deal's Gap Resort for Thursday and Friday night with at least one spare bed if you wanna split. Still working on arrangements for Saturday night.

That sounds great, thanks. I'd love to stay saturday night too, but prior arrangements............. What time will you be getting there Thursday? I just live about 2 hours away from the gap.

Did you get the standard room? (1 bed and 2 bunk beds?)

Heck yeah Eric, thanks! I can certainly 'Deal' with that.

Lucas, I'm coming from Blacksburg, VA, so it's a solid 290mi. I'll say 5 hours transit to be reasonably safe. Aiming to be there around 3pm at the latest, but hoping to be there much earlier. Will let ya know more definitely as the date approaches. I'm currently unpacking from a move so have a lot of "where'd I put ______" to get through.

PMs coming to both of ya with my contact info & to coordinate things, though it sounds like cell service is nonexistent in the Gap.

How are you coming? Interstate or backroads?

Probably superslab to get there. While it's not the best of options, it's by far the quickest. I've worked the backroads all over SW VA, and they'll be there for shorter trips.

Getting close folks.

The 10 day forecast are coming in and it looks like it might be just a bit cooler than the 95 degree weather we have been having! Also as of now they are showing the possibilities of rain increasing a bit as we head into the weekend.

If your coming for the gathering there are a few things you should know if you have not been here before.

These may seem simple but they are good to keep in mind.
-Stay in your lane
-Go through slowly the first time.
-Don't try and follow a faster rider.
-Get your runs in EARLY! The Harley guys start waking up around 10.
-If you can get here on Thursday or Friday it will be less busy.
-Don't be complacent going down the hill on either side. Once you pass the overlook there are still sharp curves ahead before you reach the bottom. The same is true once you hit NC and head down to Deal's Gap.
-Stay in your lane -yes, I said it twice.
-Drink lots of water.

I went for a run on the hill today and brought along my first gen FlipVideo camera. It's no GoPro but enjoy!

Link to original page on YouTube.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Unhappily, I'm not in on this. I would love to go. LOVE to go. but I'm saving for college book money and just cannot justify blowing a bunch of it on a trip to TN this close to when I go to school. But this road is for sure on my list of places I'm going to take my 250 dammit! hopefully next summer! I've got a friend moving to NC tomorrow and she says I can stay with her family next summer for a bit if i want. So hopefully we make this an annual thing and do it next year as well and I can meet all the TN local 250 riders and whoever else shows up. once again sorry guys and gals I just cant come

I would love to go but the only day I have off that whole weekend is that Sunday. I will be spending that day with my daughter or I would be carving the corners with you guys and girls. *edit* Also I need better rubber before I get on the Gap. Stock tires are no good.

Aaron,

Same here, thought I saw you too!

Took the bikes for a local ride on the 23rd, it could have been a Yellow Vstrom, Red & White CRF, or Red & Silver KLR.

Would like to ride with everyone on Friday, 5th.

"If" I make the trip will ride or trailer the Ninja and make a one day round trip arriving at Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort around 9:45AM.

Will PM Drew if I can make it, too!

So sad. :-( I'm not going to be able to make it up there this weekend after all. :-( :-( You all have fun! Ride safe, and if it's your first time, take the roads easy your first few times through. Trust me, some of those corners are very technical, but what a high!

Man I wish I lived closer to the dragon. It sounds like a great place to ride and visit.

It sure is, Rick! If you ever make the trip, maybe hubby and I can try to meet you there! We're only 3 hours away.

yeah it's looking like either spring break or early next summer will be my best bet to visit and bring the bike, but I need to see about the job/availability situation.
