Thumbs up I love the cold =)

Its actually kind of chilly outside right now.(yes, 45 is chilly for south louisiana.) And I love it! It's currently about 10 before midnight here and I'm a little bored so I'm going to go for a nice cold ride.
Just wondering how many other people prefer the cold to the warm or vise-versa.

I was riding around in like 65's the other day, maybe lower, I wouldnt know, but I do know by the time I got home, I couldnt feel my legs because they were so cold they went numb.

<-- Florida boys dont like cold. *Goes and searches for the "heat" switch.*

It was 42 and 44 the last 2 mornings here in west tx. It made for a cool commute to work. Everyone thought I was crazy for taking the bike to work, lol.

I don't have a motorcycle. But I've gone 30 MPH on my bicycle in 40 degree Fahrenheit. I prefer it as well it over warmer weather. I prefer cold dry air.

I have nothing but summer mesh gear, and with just that I find that under 65 I get cold very fast, to point I am shivering. However I am super skinny person, w/ barely any fat to keep myself warm, I get cold easy.

Anyway I was actually going to try to layer up today and go for a short ride to a store and find some super thick thermal underpants/shirt (I was thinking of something from a hunting store would work).

What do you guys wear to enjoy winter riding?

You might want to consider wearing rain gear.

I was actually thinking waterproof snowmobile suit
However, that maybe too thick to ride the bike comfortably.

You guys are crazy! I hate cold! However it isn't going to stop me from riding. I recently purchased a nice tourmaster cortech jacket that completely blocks all traces of outside temperature and keeps me nice and toasty, and I've got some rain pants that do an okay job but when its in the low 40s riding to school my hands, feet and neck freeze (summer gloves and tennis shoes... working on that) I need to buy a face mask thing for my neck lol but I definitely prefer summer riding, easy start ups, less heavy gear needed (not saying don't need gear) and generally I just like warmth more than cold.

I'm quite enjoying the cold weather at the moment. I'm opting to ride my motorcycle into work instead of my bicycle, just because my gear is all warm and cosy! I don't have enough warm things to wear on my bicycle, so my ears and hands would normally freeze.

I'm not looking forward to when the local council start salting the roads - going to be a pain in the ass washing the bike off after every ride.

Been riding some this week as well. I did get a lil cold but the fresh air and the smell of some hickory smoke coming from peoples homes was incredible. Have to watch out for deer around here and fallen leaves.

I went down an old country road Thur and ended up at a dead end and almost laid my bike over in the lil area I had to turn around in because of the leaves.

Temps this wk are supposed to be perfect for daily commuting.

FSX series 2, recommend it highly if you have $180 to drop, but dont have $300+ and don't mind not having leather.

I have the best of both worlds as far as gear goes. Both my pants and jacket have a removable water/wind proof liner. So when its warm, just pop the liner out, when its cold slid it back in. Only problem is once it gets really cold, my hands and feet are going to get chilly. I only have summer gloves and sidi cobra air boots. Both great for the summer... Not so great for when it gets chilly.

Also, here, we don't have to worry about getting our bikes dirty from riding in the winter. It barely rains, doesn't get cold enough to warrant salting the roads, and definitely doesn't snow. haha

I ride to work as long as the temps are 40 or above. It's still dark when I have to ride in, so it's quite chilly. It doesn't bother me except for my hands. Even using glove liners (which bulk up my hand), my fingers are often numb by the time I get to work. It's worth it for a 60 degree commute home in the afternoon. I need some better cold weather gloves I guess.

Using heated gear(jacket liner and gloves) works for me.
It really makes a difference when you factor in the wind chill factor.

rode this morning; Was -2 degrees celcius (28 F). Winter's just around the corner, but as long as I don't see snow or ice on the road, i'll be riding to work/school everyday!

Took my first ride in the cold this morning, I went out and got some thermal gear to layer up under my old leather bomber jacket..
Plus a hood/neck thermal piece and a pretty decent set of water/windproof gloves (which work out really well). Only cold parts was where my hoodie wasn't tucked in fully into my jacket and my feet got a bit cold, but that's cause all I got is summer style boots.

Looks like I'm set for the winter months to ride

was 29 degrees Fahrenheit this morning, + 70mph wind chill = around 8 degrees. I will swear by this Cortech jacket (FSX Series 2) because I didn't feel a dang thing in my upper body, and my wind proof over pants do an ok job except my ankles and lower legs because I don't have boots to tuck them into, and the air goes right through my vans shoes (few more days until my paycheck and some BOOTS!) my neck wasn't cold thanks to a recently acquired face mask and my hands were extremely cold even though I used a thicker pair of gloves instead of my vented tourmaster ones.... so I'm about 70% there on all of my gear for the cold weather :P

This will be my first winter with a bike. And from being in boyscouts for years and sleeping outside in sub-zero temperature many times, i have plenty of under-clothes clothes. Long Johns are awesome. It was like 38 this morning and I left home at about 7 with my long johns (pants and shirt), sweat pants beneath my jeans, hoodie beneath my jacket, (wind proof liner installed), and gloves. It was really nice and warm. Had a little bit of extra time before work and actually extended my ride a little bit. The only part of my body that was cold was my neck and my hands. I need to invest in some water/wind proof gloves. I'll just deal with the neck chills. lol

And on a side note. My Dan Moto slip-on arrived today. All I can say is damn! It sounds so good. And it really isn't as loud as i was expecting. (no baffle)
I LOVE IT!!

I HATE cold weather. The only way I'm staying in Ohio after I graduate is if I somehow get a job offer here before I graduate and they offer to pay for my grad school etc. or if my girlfriend gets into vet school here, I'll stay.

*rant*

But I'm moving someplace south and west as soon as I can. I hate snow, and cold and sleet and ice and everything. The only thing snow is good for is sledding/skiing (which I suck at) and making snowmen, then hiding inside. I go stir crazy. I can't MTB, or road bike or run or play tennis. Or ride the 250. and to really rub it in, I have to SHOVEL the dang stuff off the driveway. yuck. If it only went below 45 occasionally, I would be happy.

Come to louisiana! haha the food here is great too.
It actually gets pretty damn cold here from December- late March. Usually 50's during the day and 30's at night. I'm sure that's much better than Ohio... but i promise as soon as you go outside to ride at 8 in the morning in July and its already 90 degrees with 95% humidity, you'll wish you were in Ohio. lol

I would kill for some new orleans food. I love food. College kid here who cooks when he goes home on breaks

this summer was hot and humid. We had our share of 90 and humid. I loved it. I was outside the whole time I wasn't at one of my 2 jobs. Got a nice tan

...which thanks to Ohio, is now gone again.

sigh.

Good timing. Rode a couple times this week in the middle of the night. 6c/42f. No wind. It was serene and peaceful and almost magical. Crisp scents, crystal clear sounds. Sky full of stars. The cold keeps the cagers inside at night
Wearing A* boots, 2 piece joe rocket textiles with the liners inside, A* full gloves.

No dry cold here, always humid. When I took off my helmet and set it on the table, it was covered in dew before I even got my jacket off!

Didn't get cold anywhere but had to flip up my visor because of fogging. Then at the lights my glasses were fogging
Got my contacts back today but how do I deal with fogging of glasses or visor?

Is it possible to put knobbies on my ninja? That would be hilarious!
