new helmet lock ... anyone bought it?

Just read a few days ago on Clutch & Chrome of a new helmet lock:
http://www.helmetsecure.com/

Has anyone purchased it and used it? Or does anyone know of any similar products out there? It looks like a good idea, especially since the built-in lock on my '05 requires careful balancing of my helmet on the passenger peg so it doesn't sit against the exhaust and melt! (It's also more finicky to use.)

Thanks!

Looks nice and much better than the stock one. Wish it came in black though.

save your money and just get a combination cable lock to run through your helmet and jacket.

Combo locks should do the same job as that, but at a fraction of the price.

I bought a long hasp Master Lock for about 12 bucks and just run it through my D-loop and the left passenger peg bracket. Helmet can hang on the peg to take weight off the D-loop. It's worked fine, it's small and the price was right.

Helmet Lock

Just buy a long shank Master padlock; set your helmet on the passenger seat, run the shank thru the helmet d-ring and grab rail and you're done. Be careful that the helmet don't fall while you're doing this before the lock is applied. Ride safe you'al.

There is a version that replaces your center bolt for the top clamp.

The 15" cable is long enough to slip through the sleeve of a summer weight jacket and still attach through the D-Ring.

It's really nice--albeit a touch pricey. A cable with built in combination lock--available in most bicycle shops woud do just as well. Storage could be an issue. I kept mine under the seat. There was a chap around here who had a ZX6R who found a clever solution. He put a Velcro strap on one of his windscreen screws. He then hangs the coiled cable inside the fairing with the Velcro strap.

Just get a bolt lock for a long gun. Cheap and if you are in the states they give them free when you license up for game.

Just like anything, it can be defeated. Just slows them down a bit. If people want it they can get it whether by bolt cutters, freezing and hammer blows or portable grinders. Got insurance, if not get it! Then again leave your helmet loose, I might need a replacement sometime. lol

New helmet lock...

It's just to keep honest people honest and bratty kids from getting their hands on your stuff. Just like the people who install the "Club" on their steering wheel. Attaching bolt cutter immune tempered steel to what??? hard rubber steering wheel...DUH ! So carry your skid lid and when guys ask; tell 'em it's your purse...
