Are ninja 250r 2008+ engines interchangeable?
I found a used 08 250r online and the owners says everything is good except a seized engine do to a coolant leak in it. I am looking for a used engine but was wondering if it mattered the model year? I feel like the biggest thing would be the engine mounts matching up. My go to would be an 08 engine but if i can get a newer model and it would still work no problem i would prefer that.

Welcome Jon!
All 2008-2012 250r motors are the same. The California models will have extra emissions junk on them. Siezed motor? Keep on looking unless you plan on rebuilding it entirely but it may end up costing more than a good used motor.

I found a couple engines on ebay for around 500 bucks to 700 bucks. This would be my first bike and I am very mechanically inclined so I'm not worried about it being a project. just wanted to make sure they were compatible. The owner is asking 1000 for the bike because he doesn't want to spend the money or time on it. So all together it would be around 1500. He did say i would need to clean the rear caliper, clean the carbs, and replace the battery or recharge it. All of which I have done before. To me this is a steal, just wanted to confirm the engine question in case I cant find an 08. thanx
