Stefan Bradl topped the first session of free practice for the Moto2 class at Valencia, the Viessmann Kiefer rider the fastest on a drying track. Bradl was a third of a second faster than Kiefer teammate Randy Krummenacher, and over nine tenths faster than JIR's Alex de Angelis. Marc Marquez did not ride, the Spaniard still suffering from double vision, and announced that he will not race this weekend or test the Honda MotoGP bike on Monday. Although Marquez will not officially be withdrawn from the race until Saturday afternoon, just in case a miracle happens and the double vision in his right eye clears up, it seems a near certainty that Stefan Bradl will now take the 2011 Moto2 World Championship.
