Riding around Chernobyl

Wasn't too sure where to put this, but guess it has more to do with radiation than bikes:

http://www.kiddofspeed.com/

Would be quite a ride, though don't know if it'd be worth the risk.

Very cool!!! Thanks for the link. I've read at least a dozen books on this (reactor accidents are one of my interests).

I read this a while back and posted something on here about her. Not sure who, I think Alex, posted that he/she found out from another source that that was mostly made up. I thought that was cool as h**l when I read it myself, esp. her saying. "good girls go to heaven, bad girls go to hell, girls on fast bikes go wherever they want to"

Ride to Chernobyl

Interesting ride in this time of nuclear problems in Japan.

Brave lady but has to be smart coz she owns a Kawi!

Good place to hang out if you have dreams of being a super hero. Find some wild life and let it bite you. Or you could just drink out of random puddles an hope for super strength, speed, etc. If that doesn't work, there is always hoping for a painless death.

If i remember the story correctly, it was later found out that the story was faked. She didnt actually ride her bike through there she was on a tour and would get out of the car or bus or whatever they were in with her motorcycle gear on and snap some pictures. Interesting story and pictures either way.

I don't care if she actually rides through there or not. The pictures are fascinating. Honestly it seems creepy and scary as heck.

Although on an interesting note, the people who made Call of Duty Modern Warfare were spot on. I actually recognized all of the pictures of town and the tallest hotel just from the game.

This all just makes me think about the world. hmmm

Nice Graphical chart

A buddy of mine linked me to this a couple days ago...

http://xkcd.com/radiation/

Seeing this presented as a graphic sure helped me have a better perspective than just "numbers"

Yeah... the building you sniped from with Lt. Price and the Ferris wheel. The thing is, they did it in "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadows of Chernobyl" too.

Was I the only one who kept imagining a scene from "I am Legend" or "28 Days Later" everytime she stepped into a building?...

That being said, those night pictures were the creepiest. It's one thing to go into a dark deserted building in the middle-of-no-where, whole nother thing to do it in a town covered by radioactive fallout.

I don't think those movies were around when I first started reading her site.

So what does everyone think will happen with the Japan situation? I'm a bit out of the loop with no cable television but have been trying to keep up checking the news online.

Sounds pretty grim.

I read this article today in my US Gov't class from "The Week" magazine. They're still doing the tours and stuff. So even though the motorcycle part of her story is no good, the rest of her story seems to line up pretty well. The part about the mutated animals is interesting too

The bike actually appears in several of her pictures.
